Currents
Niagara Power Station

Niagara Falls, CANADA
2019
An Historical Tribute to Canadian Expertise

The historic Niagara Parks Power Station, located at the brink of Niagara Falls, is the newest landmark attraction. The first major power station on the Canadian side of the Niagara River, the former “Canadian Niagara Power Company generating station”, harnessed the powerful energy of the Horseshoe Falls turning it into a great source of electricity for over 100 years.

Now, years after its turbines came to a halt, the wonder of this hydropower pioneer is coming back to life in an entertaining and educational experience that highlights both the remarkable history and unique architectural features of this marvel of engineering and architecture.

An unforgettable Multimedia Show!

At night, Currents: Niagara’s Power Transformed, an interactive sound and light experience, brings the Niagara Parks Power Station to life with captivating visuals and a breathtaking musical score. Produced by the creative minds at Thinkwell Studio Montreal, this riveting adventure will trigger your senses as you become part of the transformation of water to energy and feel the power station awaken through playful interactive media.

Acting as a subcontractor to Solotech who supplied and integrated all the experience’s AV equipment, JOEL Rigging supplied and installed blackout satin IFR drapes and tracks over the massive and numerous windows that run the length of the power station to block out light for the earlier performances. The blackout drapes blend into the dark surface of the walls and also serve as a perfect projection surface for the multimedia experience.
