WORKING ON A CATWALK

The new Marilyn I. Walker Theatre at Brock University in St. Catharines has a flexible 285-seat venue with adjacent green room and dressing rooms, scene shop, costume shop, production lighting and sound shops. The Marilyn I. Walker Theatre is adjacent to the First Ontario Performing Arts Centre.

The challenge that JOEL Rigging was given was to provide access to a pipe gird, that prevents students from fall hazards. The solution was to design, manufacture and install of a full span gantry catwalk system.

Hung from trolleys at both ends, this catwalk structure can be moved by one person from end to end of the performance space. Providing access to the entire pipe grid system, without need for ladders or lifts permits students to hang lighting, audio and drapery from the pipe grid, from the safety of a catwalk.
